Galena Illinois, the former home of
President Ulysses S. Grant, is a popular attraction in the northwest
corner of Illinois. Already known for its contributions
to our country's historic legacy, it has also become a tourist
attraction for the many antique hunters and crafters that travel the
Midwest in search of the latest valuable find, or maybe just a
neat household decoration. Whichever you want, it can be found
in Galena.
In 2000 it was decided that the
downtown needed a major rehabilitation of its streets and
underground infrastructure. The town of Galena chose concrete
pavement. This video tells the story of how and why Galena
chose concrete and why you could see the same benefits for your
community.
